The City of Hayward set aside $365,000 in response to HayCoCoa's demand for a participatory budgeting process, allowing residents to decide how funds should be spent in their neighborhood. Over 1,100 residents voted and 12 projects across the city received funding!

The Hayward People’s Budget demonstrates what’s possible when we give residents more direct, democratic control over our tax dollars - but the program is at risk! That’s why we’re organizing to make it a permanent part of our city’s budget, & bring more funding to projects that strengthen our community.
